Janine di Giovanni

Janine performed on stage for Seriously Entertaining at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater on June 6, 2023, speaking on the evening’s theme, “All That Glitters.”

Janine di Giovanni is the Executive Director and co-Founder of The Reckoning Project, a war crimes unit in Ukraine that documents atrocities and helps build cases for international mechanisms. She is also a war reporter and author with more than a dozen awards for her writing, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Blake-Dodd prize for her body of work. Di Giovanni is the author of numerous books on war and conflict, including The Morning They Came for Us: Dispatches from Syria, which has been translated into 28 languages and was a Finalist for the New York Public Library Helen Bernstein Prize, and The Vanishing: Faith, Loss, and the Twilight of Christianity in the Land of the Prophets. Janine is also a non-resident International Security Fellow at the New America Foundation and an Associate Fellow at The Geneva Centre for Security Policy. She is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. A French and American national, she is a Board Member of the Institute of War and Peace Reporting and Association of Foreign Press Correspondents.
